I’m a ciudadrealeño — someone from Ciudad Real — born in Alicante back in mid-1980. Ever since a computer landed in my hands in 1988, I haven’t stopped tinkering, learning, and digging deeper into the beautiful science that is computing.
I’ve used practically every operating system that’s come my way: real-time systems like QNX, almost every flavor of UNIX (GNU/Linux, several BSDs, Mac OS X, Solaris…), the eternally “unfinished” GNU/Hurd, nearly every version of the Windows some love and others hate…
Professionally, my career is centered on software development, with more than 20 years of experience behind me. I’ve worked with a wide range of languages and frameworks over the years, but these days my focus is on:
- Ruby for web application development, usually starting from a framework like Ruby on Rails or Hanami.
- Elixir for building applications that involve heavy concurrency or real-time processing of large amounts of data.
- Swift for both mobile (iOS) and desktop (Mac OS X) app development.
I’ve been working remotely since 2008, and I’m a firm believer that remote work is the best way for technical teams to operate. I’ve had the experience of building remote teams from scratch at several companies, as well as helping turn traditional companies into more “remote friendly” places to work.
